Vehicle Theft

Sheriff Joey Lemons
Stokes County Sheriff’s Office

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at approximately 10:22 a.m., Stokes County Communications received a report of a motor vehicle theft that had just occurred at the Dollar General located at 1025 NC Highway 772 in Pine Hall, North Carolina.

At the time of the call, Deputy Carrick and Corporal Persiani were already patrolling in the area. Deputy Carrick immediately began checking the surrounding roads while Corporal Persiani responded to the Dollar General to investigate the incident.

A lookout was issued for a gold Chevrolet HHR believed to have been stolen from the location. Within a short period of time, Deputy Carrick located the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Jay's Road and Dillard Road. The vehicle was unoccupied when it was located. Corporal Persiani continued checking the surrounding area in an effort to locate the individual responsible for the theft. Through his efforts, Corporal Persiani located and arrested Daniel Roberts, Age 40, of Madison, North Carolina. Roberts was taken into custody and received a $45,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stokes County District Court on 11-9-26. Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts of both deputies, the stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its rightful owner shortly after the incident.

Sheriff Joey Lemons stated, "This is a great example of our deputies being on top of things and taking immediate action when a crime occurs. Because of their quick response and proactive patrol efforts, we were able to recover stolen property and return it to its rightful owner. As your Sheriff, I want the citizens of Stokes County to know that we are dedicated to protecting lives and property, and we will continue working every day to do just that."

The Stokes County Sheriff's Office would like to recognize Corporal Persiani and Deputy Carrick for their outstanding work, quick response, and dedication to serving the citizens of Stokes County.
