On Sunday, October 18, 2015 Community Liaison Officer Claudio Delgado and School Resource Officer Drew Fiorillo participated in Dia de la Raza at St. Hugh of Lincoln Church in Huntington Station.
Dia de la Raza, ‘Day of the Races’, is an event that brings together members from many different countries, each making their own traditional ethnic dishes which they share with one another in hopes of learning about each other’s culture.
Officers Delgado and Fiorillo provided literature in English and Spanish on topics such as, Identity Theft, Computer Crimes, Spanish Language Line information, what to do when stopped by the police to name just a few. For the children, they provided coloring books, free Slurpee coupons, bracelets and more.
Community relations is a top priority within the Suffolk County Police Department and the 2nd Precinct continually strives to bridge the gap between the community and the police department by participating in events such as Dia de la Raza.
