Ice Storm Warning Friday from 9am to 12am Monday.
An area of freezing rain currently over southern Missouri is expected to overtake areas generally south of the Missouri River throughout the morning. Accumulating ice is expected by the late morning into the afternoon hours, and will persist through the overnight. The heaviest ice amounts will remain generally south of I-70 today, as the greatest ice accumulations approach just under a quarter of an inch by Friday night.
Freezing rain chances will continue Saturday, with the greatest potential of accumulating ice expected Saturday night into Sunday. By the end of the event, ice totals will range from a tenth of an inch across northern Missouri to three quarters of an inch for areas along and south of the I-70 corridor. Hazardous travel conditions are expected throughout the weekend, and isolated power outages remain possible. An Ice Storm Warning remains in effect through Sunday.
Conditions will begin to improve from south to north Sunday afternoon as freezing rain transitions to rain. Precipitation chances will continue into Monday, though icing potential will have ended for all areas by Sunday night
