On 07/17/2023 at approximately 4:53 pm Deputies and Investigators were dispatched to Thompsons Contractors located at 975 Miller Road in Rutherfordton in reference to a Common Law Robbery that had occurred.
A male, possibly Hispanic, came into the scale house wearing a mask and pushed the clerk out of the way and took money from the desk drawer. The clerk was able to get a lick in causing the suspect to drop the money. The suspect did the smartest thing he could do, and ran. The suspect fled on foot toward Maple Creek Road. Thankfully, the clerk received no injuries, but the suspect may still be in some pain.
The Forest City Police Department assisted and conducted a K9 track. K9 “Thor” tracked the suspect to the area of Maple Creek Road near the entrance to Harrison’s where he lost the scent. Deputies and Investigators believe the suspect may have fled in a vehicle from there.
The Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office also assisted with a drone and flew the area but were unable to locate anything.
