ln response to the forecasted extreme heat event occurring during the next several days, the City of Simi Valley will extend the current activation of the Simi Valley Senior Center as a Cooling Center through Sunday, September 8, 2024. The Cooling Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day through Sunday, September 8, 2024. The Simi Valley Senior Center is located at 3900 Avenida Simi. The Simi Valley Public Library is open to the public and will serve as a Cooling Center during normal operating hours on Friday, September 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Simi Valley Public Library is located at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road and can be reached at (805) 526-1735.

The City encourages all residents who may be at risk due to the extreme heat or temporary loss of electricity to consider the Senior Center and the Simi Valley Public Library as cooling centers when seeking refuge from the extreme heat.
